Bashooka: Inspiring designers

  • “Genius is one percent inspiration, ninety-nine percent perspiration.” – Thomas Edison

What Thomas failed to point out is that without that 1% of inspiration you’re just a sweaty mess.

We are all looking for that original idea, that concept that nobody else ever thought of, but sometimes you need a trigger, a starting point, some inspiration from the work of others and that is where Bashooka comes in. They post the very best new design and typography ideas from around the web as well as supplying resources such as Photoshop plug-ins, fonts and many tips and tricks of the trade.

“Bashooka is a Web Design & Development blog focusing on graphic design, wordpress, coding, freebies, templates, tutorials and more.”

I have a huge library taking up half my studio full of design and typography reference books and whilst they are a valuable resource, they are out of date too quickly. A resource like the internet is rich with current designs and ideas and Bashooka gathers these together in to one convenient location. They even have links to excellent Wordpress themes for those struggling to find the perfect frame for their blog.

Bashooka appears to be the work of many contributors due to its sheer scale and regular postings but is in fact the child of just one man, freelance designer Henri Wijaya (aka Bashooka), who trawls the web so exhaustively looking for the best in new design that you wonder how he finds the time to sleep. Mind you, as an insomniac myself I can relate. So hats off to Henri who gets The Iconophile’s vote for Inspiring designers everywhere.
