Swan Lake Monday

“You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose. You’re on your own. And you know what you know. And YOU are the one who’ll decide where to go…”
― Dr. Seuss, Oh, The Places You’ll Go!

Try telling that to Monday, Dr. Seuss.

Monday is one of those places where many of us don’t want to go, or be there when we get there, but our feet in our shoes take us there anyway.

It can’t be that bad, says positive thinking, and it isn’t always that bad, but after a place like Sunday, the comparison tends to make Monday look a bit skewed.

Stephen and I sometimes take Monday off. There are perks to being your own boss. You can turn Monday into a Sunday. One where places which might be closed on Sunday are open. Or, more to the point, one where a place busy with bodies making the most of the weekend, are open to those who want to do those things in a less crowded and chaotic space, at a more leisurely pace, in a place which may momentarily be abandoned.

So we can take a peek at what happens when nothing is happening, and maybe capture it with our cameras.

We were going to go to the local zoo today to take our cameras for a fun outing (as you do with children), but the weather was feeling very Monday and too darkly overcast.

And work done on Sunday spilled over a bit, and such things need to be done properly.

For those feeling that place known as Monday, take a moment out and enjoy some swan lake. Stephen took this photo on a Saturday, I think, but does what day it is matter? This is one of the most relaxing photos I have ever seen, and I look at it whenever I want to just press pause on the day, whatever day it is, and just be. It’s a lovely place, where you can glide across the sky as though it was water rippling with your movement.
