“There is no single face in nature, because every eye that looks upon it, sees it from its own angle. So every man’s spice-box seasons his own food.”
― Zora Neale Hurston

Being cautious in life,
can be the element which saves you,
from getting your fingers burned,
more than they need to be,
for wisdom’s sake.
Your fingers will be grateful for that.
However,
that which stops you from getting your fingers burned,
may not stop the rest of you from feeling the burn,
of being too cautious.
What do we miss when we avoid being hit,
by the spicy side of life,
by our very own ring of fire
?

The soothing comfort of putting that fire out,
perhaps by the snout of a cream elephant,
of saving ourselves,
yet again,
from the fire once it is lit,
by our very own hand or mouth,
once it has singed us,
with the balm for the burn.

“A jolly young fellow from Yuma
Told an elephant joke to a puma;
now his skeleton lies
beneath hot western skies-
the puma had no sense of huma”
― Ogden Nash
A pleasant place to read.
