To Play the King

King Hamlet card

.

“There is nothing either good or bad, but thinking makes it so.”

― William Shakespeare, Hamlet

.

To manipulate your life,

cheating death,

control the cards,

assure yourself a winning hand,

make a deal,

at a price,

for which your future self will have to pay,

that your present self sees as a bargain,

a paltry sum,

to play the king,

of

all things glittering in the sun,

fool’s gold rushing,

lords leaping,

ladies dancing,

jumping to conclusions,

out of the pan into the fire,

burning,

candles at both ends,

it is the way,

of human nature,

moving forward,

looking back.

.

“Doom’d for a certain term to walk the night,
And for the day confined to fast in fires,
Till the foul crimes done in my days of nature
    Are burnt and purged away.”

― William Shakespeare, Hamlet

.
