Eight years - Sin city - Frank Miller

“The noir hero is a knight in blood caked armor. He’s dirty and he does his best to deny the fact that he’s a hero the whole time.”

― Frank Miller

Stephen and I are kids at heart, because that’s where inspiration burns brightest.

And if your adult career depends on creativity, you have to tap into the child in you… to tap into the child in others.

Even when you grow up and become an adult, it’s hard to forget the kid inside, and all the wonders which fascinated that child, and continue to enthrall the adult (with the child within).

Your inner child inspires your outer adult.

“We live in the shadow of crime with the unspoken understanding that we are victims.. of fear, of violence, of social impotence. A man has risen to show us that the power is, and always has been, in our hands. We are under siege. He’s showing us that we can resist.”

― Frank Miller

.

Stephen and I often come to inspirational blows… which can be inspiring even if it sometimes hurts one or the other or both of us.

We get it… creativity… even when we don’t because we’re feeling personal rather than professional.

He’s a he, and I’m a she, and never the twain shall meet. Except on certain occasions.

Sin City… WOW!

Wowed both of us, equally, and came close to equalising the sexes.

The females kick as much derriere as the males. Does that equalise things where the battle of the sexes is concerned?

I don’t know… but wow!

Graphic.

A little bit pornographic.

But mostly just graphic porn.

Black and white with a splash of colour for dramatic effect.

“When you got a condition, it’s bad to forget your medicine.”

Sometimes it’s hard to watch a film when you’re a graphic designer, a photographer, a consummate consumer of visual artistry – You miss the plot and get caught up in the camera work, or some other aspect of bringing a story together for the watching eyes.

Not with Sin City…

.

.

So when a piece of graphic art and film brings it all together with such magnificence… you lose all sense of perspective and end up drooling with delight.

History has a place and yet no place at all in matter of the artful heart!
