“One time he said you never really know a man until you stand in his shoes and walk around in them.”
― Harper Lee
Shoes have fascinated man and woman since we invented them,
to cover our feet,
protect our soles from the earth beneath,
and the wilderness around.
Shoe design is complex,
as is wearing such complex contraptions.
I once worked in a shoe shop,
and was fascinated by the Cinderella-esque process,
of finding the right shoe to fit the foot.
There are times when the shoe we want to wear,
is not one which our foot accepts,
and what our foot accepts,
may not be what we want to wear.
It’s not just about fashion,
making an impression,
leaving a footprint,
it is also about stylish self expression,
dreams of tripping the light fantastic,
dancing the dark night of the soul away.
“Before you criticize a man, walk a mile in his shoes. That way, when you do criticize him, you’ll be a mile away and have his shoes.”
― Steve Martin
Object number two in our Objectivity challenge,
is the (buckle my) shoe.
We’ll be posting our entries over the next couple of days.
Please feel free to join in!
What does the shoe mean to you?
