The Owl and The Pussycat… 10 years or so later

Owl and Pussycat

.

“The Owl and the Pussy-cat went to sea
   In a beautiful pea-green boat…”

– Edward Lear

.

On the day that Owl and Pussycat went to sea,

the waters were calm,

reflecting the beauty of love in bloom.

They had money and honey aplenty,

and were serenaded by blissful tunes.

.

“The Owl looked up to the stars above,
And sang to a small guitar,
“O lovely Pussy! O Pussy, my love,
What a beautiful Pussy you are…

Pussy said to the Owl, “You elegant fowl!
   How charmingly sweet you sing!
O let us be married!”

– Edward Lear

.

Their love was so great,

it sealed their fate,

together forever,

happily ever after.

.

“And hand in hand, on the edge of the sand,
They danced by the light of the moon…”

– Edward Lear

.

But 10 years or so later,

they’d run out of money and honey,

the pea-green boat had been cut into pieces to fuel the fire,

of another kind of desire,

and they danced to a different tune,

while howling at each other under the moon.

.

“They dined on mince, and slices of quince,
Which they ate with a runcible spoon…”

– Edward Lear
