“There was nowhere to go but everywhere, so just keep on rolling under the stars.”
― Jack Kerouac
Press the button!
But which button?
Like a kid in a candy shop,
or a child exploring a land made of buttons to press…
[like me in the Science Museum in London which was made of buttons encouraging me to push them to learn about life]
… tempting buttons calling out to us to press them,
don’t worry about those things known as consequences…
It’s all about learning!
Someone else will pay for the candy…
Someone else will get electrocuted when you push the button.
There’s a meme doing the rounds online,
where that button can become anything you want it to be,
but it requires a sacrifice of one thing to get another,
you have to cede some control to get what you want,
yet you still have the option to decline.
You can control what you control and what you don’t control.
It is a psychological test of sorts,
with disturbingly funny results.
None of this is real…
so what will you do in a surreal situation?
Buy all the candy,
and eat it?
Press all the buttons,
What would make you press that button?
There are many options,
and you can create your own…
therein lies the rub!
If you had complete control,
but had to sacrifice one thing for that,
what would it be?
if you’re a gamer,
you can forgo all the awkwardness of button pressing options,
even when it means that your gameplay will be affected by it.
The game of surreal life is yours,
just press some buttons…
and off you go.
If you press the wrong button…
you can just start again until you get it right.
“Don’t use the phone. People are never ready to answer it. Use poetry.”
― Jack Kerouac
