Reflections of Home

Mirror Tree

.

“… to preserve and cherish the pale blue dot, the only home we’ve ever known.”
― Carl Sagan

.

For as long as I have known myself,

I have been searching for a place,

called home.

.

I have named many locations,

home,

for the sake of simplicity,

but

I never believed,

I was home.

.

When people asked,

Where are you from?

I didn’t know.

.

I gave many answers,

here, there,

for the sake of simplicity,

but

I didn’t have roots,

I was a windblown seed.

.

Then I saw it,

the place,

home.

.

In a photograph,

taken from afar,

of a little blue dot,

roots of gravity,

keeping me here,

it’s as simple as that.

.

“When one door of happiness closes, another opens; but often we look so long at the closed door that we do not see the one which has been opened for us.”
― Helen Keller
