Self portrait of the true artist

    No. I’m not that arrogant.

Let the camera step in to the spotlight.

    The true artist revealed.

    I point.

    The camera captures.

    The lens sees.

    Things I do not see.

    Or can hope to understand.

    It is my joy.

To review the pictures the camera has captured, with wonder.

Seeing them for the first time.

    Thanks camera.

    For all your hard work.

    Now step back behind yourself.

    I want the spotlight again.

The mirror is the object of our challenge.

    It reflects the truth.

That the camera is the star.

    I am but a prop.

“When do I see a photograph, when a reflection?” – Philip K. Dick, A Scanner Darkly
