When you hear the word ‘Passion’ what does it evoke within you?
.
.
“If my Valentine you won’t be,
I’ll hang myself on your Christmas tree.”
― Ernest Hemingway
.
Is your mind filled with images,
of those things which
both shake it and stir it
until it doesn’t know what to think?
.
.
“But Valentine, why despair, why always paint the future in such sombre hues?” Maximilien asked.
“Because, my friend, I judge it by the past.”
― Alexandre Dumas
.
Does your heart race a bit faster,
skip a beat,
and maybe cause you to look that symptom up on the medical side of the internet
(which you know you shouldn’t do)?
.
.
“The only bubble in the flat champagne of February is Valentine’s Day. It was no accident that our ancestors pinned Valentine’s Day on February’s shirt: he or she lucky enough to have a lover in frigid, antsy February has cause for celebration, indeed.”
― Tom Robbins
.
Do you feel all aflutter,
butterflies within,
colourful wings,
giving flight to fancy?
.
.
“I’ll paint you moments of gold, I’ll spin you Valentine evenings…”
― David Bowie
.
Or does a beast beckon,
from a hidden place,
dark and forbidding,
like all things taboo,
yet so seductive,
come hither,
come here,
lose yourself in me?
.
.
“Let not this day, then, but this night be thine;
Thy day was but the eve to this, O Valentine.”
― John Donne
.
Before I lose myself…
.
Our next Photography challenge,
is
A Passion for…
.
Our first Passion is…
for Art
(inspired by The Daily Post’s photo challenge)
which we will share in posts this week,
as art is where both Steve and I,
in different ways,
made our first acquaintance with passion
expressed.
.
(never listen to the sound of your recorded voice as that may evoke a passion for not speaking again)
.
“When two people are under the influence of the most violent, most insane, most delusive, and most transient of passions, they are required to swear that they will remain in that excited, abnormal, and exhausting condition continuously until death do them part.”
― George Bernard Shaw
.
Please share your passions with us.
.
Happy Valentine’s Day!
