A Feeling As Deep As Love

When I was a child

I was indoctrinated into the religion of Art

the process involved looking at everything as though it was a painting

framed and hanging on a wall

a window into the poetic world of the soul

alive with not just the spirit of the subject

but also the passion of the viewer

the artist whose paint was blood coursing through veins

inspired by an ever beating heart

“We love the beautiful and serene, but we have a feeling as deep as love for the terrible and dark.”
― Edward Bulwer-Lytton
