It’s snowing today where we live
it’s the kind of snow which doesn’t stick
it comes in a flurry then melts away in hurry
it reminded me of a time years ago when it did stick
and each flurry of frozen cloud tears added more soft blankets upon soft blankets
and at the end there came a sort of quietness
βI hope no one who reads this book has been quite as miserable as Susan and Lucy were that night; but if you have been – if you’ve been up all night and cried till you have no more tears left in you – you will know that there comes in the end a sort of quietness.β

Stunning picture. Is it yours? Is it a photo?
And the words, truly lovely.

It’s a photograph I took years ago while I was wandering around in the Winter wonderland just outside of the house I used to live in. I tweaked the photo in Photoshop to make it a bit more surreal to reflect how it felt at the time. It was the heaviest snow we’d had in years and everything came to a standstill for several days, except for a fox (I didn’t have my zoom lens at the time, so the fox is a tiny smudge in the distance).

I LOVE it. Should be hanging in a fancy Galley somewhere!
