Stop.
.
.
Please stop.
Pretty please with cherries on top,
stop
judging me by the selfies I post online.
.
.
Can’t you see that those are just shadows of who I am,
I’m playing with the light,
but all you may see is the dark.
I may be a puppet for that which is hidden
of yours,
and mine too.

“Nothing whets the intelligence more than a passionate suspicion, nothing develops all the faculties of an immature mind more than a trail running away into the dark.”
― Stefan Zweig
.
I may become a vessel for darkness,
while I seek to be a shining light.
I may become a rod for the lightning of hate,
when I yearn to be a symbol of love.
I may have gone wrong,
while trying to be right.
.
.
I am you,
but you may not want to be me.
I want to be noticed,
in a world which often prefers that I remain unnoticed.
I didn’t mean to become branded,
with a brand
that made me a painful reminder of everything you want to forget.

“Night gathers, and now my watch begins”
― George R.R. Martin

I wanted a moment in the light,
but all that became seen was
my many moments of being in the dark.
I’m scared of this darkness,
yet you find comfort when I’m there.

the internet,
social media,
what sometimes happens there,
and a patient shadow puppet who allowed me to impose my observations and imaginings upon it.
I have to say this brought tears to my eyes. Thank you.
